Mexico Travel Essentials: Departure Formalities

Upon departure, tourist cards must be returned. Missing cards can cause lengthy delays and hassles. Expect a departure tax at the airport of between US$18 and $29. The amount depends on which airport you are using and is often included in the price of your ticket.
Visitors driving their own vehicles into Mexico and flying to another country must leave their car in customs bond at the Mexico City Airport.
