Communications: Cell Phone Dialing Guide
Basic Calling Information
- Most mobile phone numbers in Mexico are seven digits, except for numbers in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, which have eight digits.
- Mobile phone numbers use geographic area codes, which are usually three digits, except for area codes in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, which are two digits.
- Area code + mobile phone number always totals ten digits.
- When making local calls to a mobile phone from a landline within Mexico, dial: 044 (mobile phone access code) + area code + mobile phone number.
- When making long-distance calls to a mobile phone from a landline within Mexico, dial: 045 (long-distance mobile phone access code) + area code + mobile phone number.
- When making local calls between mobile phones in the same area code in Mexico, dial: area code + mobile phone number.
- When making long-distance calls between mobile phones in different area codes in Mexico, dial: 01 + area code + mobile phone number.
- To place an international call to a mobile phone in Mexico, dial Mexico's country code [52] + 1 + area code + mobile phone number. Callers should note that calls to a mobile number in Mexico may include an additional per minute mobile termination charge (MTC).
